Mission
Hopewell serves all people, regardless of Indigenous identity, race, colour, ancestry, place of origin, religion, marital status, family status, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or age of that person or class of persons or other circumstances.
Scope of Care:
Clinic: We operate a registered nurse led clinic. Our nurses provide pregnancy options support and are certified to provide STI testing and treatment. Ongoing medical care for pregnancy is beyond the scope of a registered nurse; therefore, each client is advised to see a primary care provider such as a nurse practitioner or doctor following their appointment. We do not provide ongoing primary health care including prenatal care, contraception, PEP/PrEP, abortions or arranging abortions. If clients do not have a family physician, they will be provided with information about local walk-in clinics or telehealth options.
Perinatal Outreach Program: Our volunteer peer mentors provide support under the supervision of our registered nursing team. They offer peer mentoring and facilitate perinatal education, support clients while they utilize the boutiques, and make community referrals. Peer mentors are not a substitute for professional counselling. Our certified volunteer doula provides labour and delivery support. Doulas are not a substitute for prenatal health care provided by a physician or midwife.
Wholistic Wellness Initiative: Our Life Coach provides one-on-one and group life coaching and life skills workshops. Our peer mentors support clients with parenting life skills development. Life Coaches and peer mentors are not a substitute for professional counselling.
